A. Key Concept of Course: This AP course is designed to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analizing, and drawing conclusions from data. The course will follow the outline given by the College Board, which matches the California State Standards for this course.

B. General Plan for Course: The focus of the course is to prepare students for the May AP Statistics Exam.

C. Course Requirements: Materials needed are pencils and pens, both regular lined and graph paper, and a calculator that does statistical calculations. (I recommend the TI-83 or TI-84).

D. Textbook Used: The Practice of Statistics, Third Edition

E. Teacher Avaliability: I am in my class for extra help on Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at lunch. Other times may be arranged if notified in advance.

F. Attendance Expectations: You are expected to be in class everyday. All School attendance policies as stated in the student handbook will be enforced at all times (End of Warning). Students are responsible for informing the teacher if an absence is coming up as well as turning in any assignments due on the day of the absence.  Students out for unforseen absences are responsible for getting any notes taken as well as getting the assignments that were missed. (Ask your fellow students or check the website.)

G. Behavior Expectations: All School and District Policies as stated in the student handbook and letters from the school/district will be enforced at all times. (End of Warning).

H. Assignments/Assessments:  Assessments will consist of both formative and summative types.  Formative assessments can be in the form of quizzes, projects, and other checking for understanding activities.  Summative assessments are the exam and projects.

Assignments consist of Class/Homework, Case Closed problems, and AP type problems.  Homework sets will be assigned at the begining of a section are are due the day of that section's quiz.  Case closed problems are due 2 days after the chapter exam or sooner.  AP type problems are due the next day after they are given.  Homework sets and AP problems will be posted on-line, so absent students can access them.  Case closed problems are in the text.  Those unexpectedly absent on turn-in days will be given one extra day per day absent to complete assignments.  Those who know the absence is coming must get these things turned in on that day.

Each section will have its own quiz with a couple of exceptions.  If you miss a quiz due to an absence then the problems on the next exam that cover that section will be used as your quiz.  This includes missing the required lectures leading up to a quiz.

All Major Exams are two day affairs and cover 2 chapters (except the first one).  Those who miss one or both days will take a different but equivalent exam immediately upon their return.  Please note that you are STILL responsible for all notes and assignments missed while you are making the exam up.
